Seduction and Snacks is the first of a trilogy and two more spin-offs, which I went ahead and bought because I saw so many positive reviews. I love romantic comedies - Alice Clayton is a favorite of mine. And this book and it's other companions have gotten tons of 5-star reviews, so it must be just me. There was a lot of profanity, which normally doesn't bother me but most of it spewed out of a 4-year-old's mouth. Little Gavin was used as a big comic relief character, but it was a bit of overkill since Carter and Claire, our two leads, were already funny enough. Her best friend, Liz, girlfriend Jenny, and Carter's buddy Drew were also very humorous characters. It felt like Ms. Sivec was trying way too hard and injecting humor where it didn't need to be. I would have loved to see more touching moments with Carter and his son as they got to know each other. Most of the book was sexual tension, drunken partying, and Gavin moments. The love story actually took a backseat, which I never like to see in my romance novels.
This book could have seriously been a 5-star book had Ms. Sivec reeled in the comedy just a bit. The adult were funny, but Gavin was just too much for me. He should have been the sweet, gooey center of this than the foul-mouthed, destructive, brat he was made out to be. I'm curious to read the next books to see if Ms. Sivec reels it in a bit as she gets more writing experience and can balance the comedy and romance a little more.
I read the warning explaining the book was full of toilet humor and prepared myself going in. I'm not a prude and love swearing and dirty, nasty jokes. That wasn't my issue with this book and the reason I gave it two stars.
The first few chapters were really funny. I like the honest look at not wanting kids and what really happens when you are pregnant. This was the most real Claire felt to me. Later on the story she seemed very phoney.
The romance between Claire and Carter was just alright. They were both immature and I didn't care for either one. The opening sex scenes were hot I will admit. As they kept going I started skimming.
My biggest issue was the story was extremely boring. Good stories should have a beginning, a middle, and an end. There should be angst and a plot. There was no problem to be resolved. You'd be better off watching an episode of Bad Girls Club if you want some conflict in your life. This was just a big run on story with no action.
The writing style was juvenile. I feel like she could have better books out there but I'm not sure I want to find out.
This book will have you crying, laughing, gasping, clinching your "pearls" (not the ones around your neck either. Tara Sivec is a genius of an author; I cant wait to read more of her books. Claire's vulnerability to explore t
Her wild side and Carter's ability to be the best thing on earth since sliced bread is a true gem in this book. You'll fall in love with the characters in this book I guarantee. But you'll also walk away wishing you had a little Gavin in your life as well. Great writing Tara, absolutely wonderful!

I eagerly bought this book based on the number of good reviews and the promising sample. Bleh! I didn't even get halfway before I had to quit. SPOILER ALERT The premise is clear from anyone who has read the sample so ok, secret baby. But to actually DATE the baby daddy and STILL NOT TELL HIM YOU HAD HIS CHILD??!! But it was ok because you keep meaning to but it was never the right time ... eh, wrong! Don't get me wrong, I'm ok with the secret baby plot device, IF it's well written and plausible. Which the circumstances around her not knowing who he was, that was good, fine. But unless the baby daddy is a criminal or has criminal friends and you legitimately fear for the safety of you and your child, there's never any reason to not blurt out, "You ARE the father!" when you see him for the first time. I gave the book 2 stars for effort and for her best friend.
I bought this because it was one of the pages in my Love Between the Lines coloring book, and I like to read the books before I color the pages, in case it gives me ideas on what colors to use and what certain things in the picture are.
But anyway, let me tell you that while I have trouble paying for ebooks more than 99 cents or so, the price of this was $3.99 and it was worth every penny! In fact it was so good I immediately ordered a physical copy of the book as well. I LOVED this! I laughed at so many parts and I can't wait to read on in the rest of this series, as well as to read other books by this author. I pretty much feel like I hadn't laughed at a book in a long time as hard as I laughed at this book. It was so funny. Her little boy almost stole the story so many times. But then just the sex scenes and the funny self-deprecating thoughts and comments both of the main characters had were perfect. This book is a must read!
Claire is trying to get a jump start on her life as a single mom who didn't complete college because that's when she got pregnant and had to take care of her son. The father is from a one night stand about 5 years ago whom she has never forgotten, but can't seem to find despite her best efforts...until Carter moves into her town and walks into the bar where she works. I loved the overall premise and there's a lot of humor thrown in, too. The story is told in alternating POVs, which helps on Carter's behalf because despite the situation, I found myself really endeared by him. He hadn't forgotten Claire, even though he didn't immediately recognize her. So many awkward moments and conversations, yet I still liked all of the characters and overall plot because it was nonstop entertainment and embarrassing situations.
