Interview with the Author

What was your inspiration to write the American in Paris series?
After a few too many drinks, I either turn to storytelling or karaoke. I'm much better at storytelling—or so my friends say! They encouraged me to put my tales to paper, and thus was born my series of memoirs, essentially a collection of funny true stories.

OK, so they're technically memoirs. But they seem different than traditional memoirs. How would you categorize them?
Most bestselling memoirs are written by celebrities, who already have a huge audience. I had to choose a different angle in order to stand out, so I went for humor. I hope people enjoy my stories, which have been compared to chick lit except they're true! I also talk about my travels, so my books would appeal to anyone who likes travel humor. Confessions of a Paris Party Girl is a funny coming of age memoir, while Confessions of a Paris Potty Trainer falls under parenting humor or pregnancy humor.

Yikes, those are practically spoilers!
Sorry! Between my French last name and my author bio, I think the cat might already be out of the bag. However, even if you have a rough idea of how it all ends, you have no idea how rough it was getting there until you read my books!

There are so many memoirs about Paris? Why should I choose yours?
It's true, there are some really great Paris memoirs. The fact that I have read (and enjoyed!) so many bestselling memoirs myself makes me think it's a popular genre for a reason. We're always thirsty for another sip of Paris, to travel to Paris through the pages of a book, to fall in love with Paris again!

So this book is part of the American in Paris series?
Yep! Each book can stand alone, but like fine wine and cheese they go great together. You can read them in any order, though I'd recommend

Book 1 Confessions of a Paris Party Girl
Book 2 Confessions of a Paris Potty Trainer
Book 3 Christmas Confessions & Cocktails
Book 4 Petite Confessions
Book 5 Confessions & Cocktails

If you enjoy a good laugh and want to see the crazy things that happened to this American girl living in France, you'll enjoy the American in Paris series!

Christmas Confessions Cocktails A Humorous Holiday Memoir with Sassy Drink Recipes American in Paris Book 3 edition by Vicki Lesage Cookbooks Food Wine eBooks Reviews

This one has it all - funny (mostly funny), but even poignant, cringe-worthy, and to-die-for-sweet. I was hesitant to read it because I don't drink alcohol, but the cocktail recipes are a perfect addition (with even some virgin ones thrown in) - the perfect salt on the rim for those who love cocktail recipes (there are 25), and a non-distracting aside for those who don't.

What you'll get are stories. Vignettes from the author's life before France, and afterwards. I've read some of her other books, and if you like the zany backdrop her large family provides (I do), this one will not disappoint. It's a perfect light read that combines everything the season has to offer - joy, relationships, hope, laughter, and ... faceplants. Which may or may not have had to do with the cocktails. But I shall say no more.
This is the latest in Vicki's Paris Confessions series of memoirs. This book is written in the same fun lively style of writing that I have come to expect from her memoirs about her life in France, but this one was a little different. I found a more mellow side to Vicki here; the wild party girl was somewhat replaced by someone to whom family life is obviously very important, as important in fact, as having a good time.

This book includes twenty-five fun snippets of her life, loosely centered on the Christmas theme; both before and after she moved to France and many of these snippets are from times in her life when her family is together and celebrating. As usual she includes the bad as well as the good, but all are told in a way that made me smile. At the end of each one is an invitation to join her in a celebratory cocktail (or two), well, OK it is just the recipes, but it felt like she was inviting me to join in her fun.

Cheers Vicki, thanks for another fun read and have a great Christmas!

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Reflecting on Christmas past isn't always easy. We have moments we think are normal then moments we would rather forget ever happened. There are those quirky things our family does that drive us crazy and then those things we wish would last forever. Add some cocktails to the mix and it's loaded with more excitement and interesting chatter, right?

Well, I have found this book full of short stories of Christmas past along with fun little cocktails, mainly a recipe for one! It is so well written, I feel like I'm right there, taking up space in Vicki Lasage's super tiny apartment in France where the Christmas tree gets knocked over every time you turn! And I can understand the family quirks as my own family has our own.

Personally, I can't see myself ever sharing about family quirks or life during the Christmas season. It actually sounds boring to me, but in Christmas Confessions & Cocktails, even the mundane seems exilerating! You know a writer is amazing when what may be boring suddenly becomes a sitcom.

Add in some cocktails to enjoy during the read is so much fun! If I was able to actually enjoy a recipe or two while reading, we'd have a much more entertaining review, I'm sure!

I am thankful for the chuckles I had while reading this book by Vicki Lasage. Wow, and to think there's more where this came from! Awesome!

Christmas Confessions & Cocktails was provided complimentary from Reading Deals for an honest review.
My mom did not like tht the main character was always drinking. I bought this for her entertainment.
I expected this to be a funnier book. It was somewhat humorous but many of the stories were not even very interesting to me. With only a couple of interesting and funny stories I am not sure I would read another book by this author.
Loved it.
Fun read for a mindless escape...with a hint of holiday. The unique cocktail recipes at the end of each chapter is an extra perk!
